OSHAWA, ONTARIO – Former Blue Devil Sarah Bullard tallied three goals to help the U.S. women’s national team earn an 18-9 victory over Australia Sunday at the Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) World Championship. Team USA remains at the top of the Pool A standings in the international tournament with a 3-0 record.

After Australia jumped out to a 2-0 lead, the U.S. had a scoring burst late in the half for an 11-5 advantage at the break. Team USA went on to win by nine goals in what was the highest-scoring game between two countries in World Cup history.

Bullard scored two of her three goals Sunday on free position opportunities and has found the back of the net in every game at this year’s World Cup. She also picked up five ground balls in the win. Fellow Duke graduate Megan Huether chipped in five saves after taking over the in the net during the second half.

Team USA continues pool play at the World Cup Tuesday, July 16 in a meeting with host Canada (3-0) at 8 p.m. EST. The winner of that contest will earn the number one overall seed in the championship bracket, which begins Wednesday, July 17.
