HARRISON, N.J.—Duke University senior midfielder Sean Davis capped his summer of soccer by helping the New York Red Bulls U-23 squad to the National Premier Soccer League Championship with a 3-1 win over Chattanooga FC Saturday night.

"It was a magical night," New York Red Bulls U-23s head coach Simon Nee stated. "It made such a wonderful experience for the boys. It really wraps up a great season. We had a great group, a lot of quality and a lot of returning guys. It was thoroughly earned; the boys worked really hard."

The title was the first for the New York Red Bulls as Chattanooga FC lost in the final for the third time. Davis, a central midfielder, had a goal and an assist in his 12 games. The New York Red Bulls finished the 2014 season with a perfect 16-0-0 record. The squad scored 67 goals and allowed just eight during the campaign.

Davis, Duke’s field genera, has played in 49 games in his three seasons with the Blue Devils. He has seven goals and seven assists to his name, including a career-best 15 points his junior campaign.

The Blue Devils open preseason camp Aug. 13 and will host their first scrimmage in Durham Aug. 19 at 7 p.m. Duke officially opens the season Aug. 29 in the John Rennie Nike Classic against Loyola Marymount at 7:30 p.m.
