DURHAM, N.C. – After inclement weather caused a one-hour, 50-minute delay to the start of the game, Duke and Virginia Tech played four innings before the rain returned, causing a 47-minute delay and the eventual suspension of the game. The Blue Devils and Hokies will pick up the game in the top of the fifth inning tomorrow at noon and then play Sunday’s regularly scheduled tilt approximately 30 minutes after the completion of the suspended game.
Virginia Tech took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first. Centerfielder Nate Parks and third baseman Bryan Thomas hit back-to-back one-out singles before pulling off a double steal. Designated hitter Anthony Sosnoskie then lifted a sacrifice fly to center to bring in Parks.
The Blue Devils will host North Carolina A&T on Tuesday at noon in their final home game of the year. Duke wraps up the regular season with a trip to Miami Thursday through Saturday.
