DURHAM, N.C.-Duke University seniors CJ Costabile and Robert Rotanz were selected as United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Scholar All-Americans as announced by the USILA. Costabile and Rotanz are Duke's 24th and 25th USILA Scholar All-America honorees since 1995.

Duke was one of three ACC schools represented as Virginia and Maryland also had players honored. This marks the 10th year the Blue Devils have had at least two players awarded the accolade. Both Costabile and Rotanz also were voted to the USILA All-America first team.

In 1989, the USILA Scholar All-America Program was established to recognize student-athletes from USILA member institutions who have distinguished themselves academically, athletically and as citizens of their communities. The USILA Selection Committee selects an overall team representing Division I, II and III. The Scholar All-Americas are recognized at the annual Lacrosse All-America Banquet.

Rotanz, a 2012 All-ACC selection and honorable mention All-America choice in 2011, had a standout senior season., finishing with 40 goals and 48 points overall. His 40 goals are the most by a midfielder in Duke single-season history. Rotanz posted a career-high six points from five goals and an assist to lead Duke to its sixth consecutive NCAA semifinal appearance. The native of Westport, Conn., has recorded at least four goals in five games this season and has seven hat tricks on the year. His 10 goals in this season's NCAA Tournament ranks tied for fifth at Duke for goals in an NCAA Tournament history. Rotanz has been held without a point just one time this season and has registered at least one goal in 17 of the team's 20 games. For his career, Rotanz played in 77 games, with 46 starting assignments, scored 78 goals with 18 assists for 96 points. He has three game-winning goals in 2012 and eight for his career.

Costabile recently earned his fourth All-America honor after being named to the third team in 2010 and 2011 and the honorable mention squad in 2009. The 2012 ACC-Co Defensive Player of the Year and two-time All-ACC choice, Costabile has helped anchor Duke's faceoff game and defense throughout his career. The New Fairfield, Conn., native helped guide Duke to its sixth straight NCAA semifinal with a career-high 15 ground balls and 14 faceoff victories in the 17-6 win over Colgate. Costabile led the ACC and ranked seventh nationally in ground balls with 7.2 per game and has 144 overall. His 376 career ground balls are the most in Duke history as he surpassed goaltender Joe Kirmser's 327 ground balls in the ACC semifinal win over Maryland.

Voted to the Capital One Academic All-District squad, Costabile has picked up at least five ground balls in 17 of his 20 games this season and has nine-plus pickups in six contests. He has had equal success at the X in 2012, winning at least 50 percent of his draws 11 times. Overall for the year, he is 143-of-272 (.526) at the faceoff X. Defensively Costabile has been outstanding as well, ranking second on the team with 19 caused turnovers, including a season-best three in Duke's come-from-behind win over Marist.
