DURHAM, N.C – Former Duke University men’s lacrosse standouts Nick O’Hara, Parker McKee and Steve Schoeffel were among 96 players picked up Wednesday in the Major League Lacrosse (MLL) 2013 Supplemental Draft.
O’Hara was the first former Blue Devil chosen in the fourth round by the Charlotte Hounds with the 27th overall pick. Last season, O’Hara appeared in three games for the Hamilton Nationals, picking up nine ground balls and registering one shot. Charlotte will become the sixth team that O’Hara has played for since graduating from Duke in 2008. He will join former teammate Matt Danowski, as well as current Blue Devil volunteer assistant Joe Cinosley in Charlotte.
McKee was chosen by the Long Island Lizards in the seventh round with the 53rd overall pick. Going into his fourth season with the Lizards, McKee appeared in nine games last season, tallying one assist. He also collected 25 ground balls while registering five shots. The Lizards are the only team in the MLL McKee has played for since graduating from Duke in 2010.
Rounding out Duke’s selections was 2010 graduate Steve Schoeffel. Taken 87th overall by the Denver Outlaws, Schoeffel will join former Duke teammate Justin Turri as he begins his first stint in the MLL. At Duke, Schoeffel finished his career with 59 goals and 20 assists for 79 points in 90 career games.
