Overall Notes
- Monday’s championship game marked the 10th all-time meeting between Duke and Syracuse … Syracuse leads the all-time series by a 6-4 margin, but Duke has won the last three meetings.
- In addition, Monday’s game marked the fifth meeting in an NCAA Tournament game between the two teams … Duke has won the last two playoff affairs, but Syracuse leads by a 3-2 margin in the postseason series.
- In the 15 games played during this year’s tournament, the average margin of victory was 4.33 goals, which is tied for the second-lowest average since the tournament field expanded to 16 teams in 2003 … In 2011, the average margin of victory was 4.13 goals per game.
- The combined margin of victory in the five games played this weekend was 12 goals, which is the second-lowest total since the 1998 tournament … In 2002, the five games were decided by a total of 11 goals.
- Monday’s attendance for the championship game is 28,224.

Duke Team Notes
- With Monday’s win over Syracuse, the Blue Devils earned their second NCAA Division I men’s lacrosse championship … They also claimed the title in 2010 after edging Notre Dame by a 6-5 margin.
- Duke is now 2-2 all-time in the NCAA Division I Championship Game … In addition to their wins in 2010 and 2013, the Blue Devils played in the title game in 2005 and 2007.
- Duke is now 22-6 in its last 28 NCAA Tournament games … Of those six losses, three of them have come against Johns Hopkins.
- Duke finished the season with a five-game win streak … In addition, the Blue Devils won 14 of their final 15 games after opening the season with a 2-4 record.
- Duke scored 16 or more goals for the second straight game … In addition, it is the 10th time this year the Blue Devils have scored 16 or more goals … They were 9-1 in those games.
- The Blue Devils were held without a goal in the first quarter for just the second time this year … They were also held scoreless in the opening stanza against Notre Dame on Feb. 16 in a 13-5 loss.
- After outscoring Syracuse by a 10-3 margin in the second and third quarters on Monday, the Blue Devils posted a 23-7 scoring margin in the second and third quarters of their two games this weekend.
- Junior midfielder Brendan Fowler was named as the 2013 NCAA Division I Championship Most Outstanding Player … In two games this weekend, he won 36 of 59 face-offs (.610) with 26 ground balls.
- Fowler also extended his NCAA single-season record for face-off wins to 339 after winning 20 of 28 face-offs against Syracuse on Monday afternoon … He also finishes the season with 209 ground balls in 21 games, the second-highest single-season total in NCAA Division I history.
- Junior attackman Jordan Wolf finished with a game-high six points after scoring four goals with two assists against the Orange on Monday … It marked his 11th “hat trick” of the season and the 20th of his college career … The 20 career “hat trick” games are tied for the most among juniors in NCAA Division I along with Cody Lehrer of Mount St. Mary’s.
- Wolf tallied at least one point in all 21 games this season with 20 multi-point games … He also finished the season with 22 goals in his final seven games, including four games with at least four goals.
- Junior attackman Josh Dionne tallied his seventh “hat trick” of the season after scoring three goals against Syracuse on Monday … He had four “hat tricks” in the final six games to end the season.

Syracuse Team Notes
- Syracuse was playing in the NCAA Division I men’s lacrosse championship game for the 17th time in the program’s history … With Monday’s loss against Duke, the Orange are now 11-6 (.647) in the title game … In addition, Coach John Desko is now 5-3 all-time in the NCAA Division I Championship Game.
- The Orange had a seven-game win streak snapped with Monday’s loss against Duke … It was the Orange’s first loss since a 9-8 setback at Georgetown on Apr. 20.
- The 16 goals allowed by the Orange match a season high … Syracuse also allowed 16 goals in a double overtime loss against Albany in the season opener on Feb. 17.
- The six-goal deficit was Syracuse’s largest of the season … The previous mark was five goals, which occurred against Albany and Rutgers.
- Syracuse had not allowed an opponent to score 10 or more goals in its last seven games prior to Monday … During the previous seven games, the Orange defense held opponents to an average of 6.4 goals per outing.
- Syracuse finished the season with a 16-4 record … The 16 wins by the Orange match the school record for wins in a season, which has been accomplished three times (1922, 2008, 2009).
- Redshirt freshman attackman Dylan Donahue recorded his fourth “hat trick” of the season in Monday’s loss against Duke … In the NCAA Tournament this year, he scored eight goals with five assists.
- Sophomore attackman Kevin Rice matched a season high with three assists in Monday’s loss against Duke … It is the seventh time this year he has tallied three assists in a game … During the NCAA Tournament, he scored four goals with six assists.
