Blue Devils Lead Teams to Victories at World Championships

MANCHESTER, England - The four Blue Devils participating in the 2010 Federation of International Lacrosse World Championships had a successful first day of action in leading their respective teams to victories. The United States defeated Australia 21-5, while Canada beat Japan 17-4.

Former Blue Devil standouts, Kevin Cassese, Ned Crotty and Matt Zash all are suiting up for the US team, while Zack Greer is donning the jersey for Canada.

Against Japan, Greer led all scorers with six goals and an assist for seven points in the 13-goal victory. The Blue Devil star registered three of the team's first five goals as Canada leaped out to a 5-2 advantage.

For the United States, Crotty tallied two goals and an assist, while Cassese and Zash both chipped in an assist apiece. The US squad raced 13-2 halftime lead and never looked back on its way to the 21-5 win over the Aussies.

The former Blue Devils will square off against each other in the next contest at the US takes on Canada on July 17 at 2:30 p.m. The game will be held in the main stadium at the Manchester University Sports grounds. Fans can tune into the live blog on www.insidelacrosse.com.
