DURHAM, N.C.- A pair of Duke men's lacrosse incoming freshmen have been selected to the United States under-19 men's lacrosse team after a four-day tryout session at University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC). Kyle Keenan and Kyle Turri, who will suit up for the Blue Devils in 2012, are two of the 23 players selected to the team that will compete at the 2012 Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) U-19 Men's World Championships in Turku, Finland.

Keenan, an attackman from Smithtown West High School, most recently registered a goal and an assist for the North squad in the 2011 Under Armour All-America game. Keenan helped guide Smithtown West to the county championship game this past season before falling to West Islip. The 5-11 attackman tallied 40 goals and 37 assists as a senior. He is a two-time all-tri state selection and helped guide Long Island to the gold medal at the Empire State Games.

Turri, a goaltender for West Islip, is one of two goaltenders selected to the 23-man squad. He helped anchor West lslip to a 17-1 overall record and a runner-up finish to Farmingdale in the Class A Long Island Championship. He was named the Suffolk Player of the Year by Newsday. He registered an overtime goal against Ward Melville during the regular season as one of the highlights of the year. His brother, Justin Turri, a redshirt senior for the Blue Devils, was a member of the 2008 U.S. U19 team that won the world championship.

The 2012 FIL U19 World Championship will take place in Turku, Finland, where Team USA will look to defend its title from 2008, when it won gold at the quadrennial event, beating Canada 19-12 in Coquitlam, British Columbia.
