Big Meeting Scheduled with the Terps
Duke, after falling to Penn Friday, opens its ACC schedule this weekend when it welcomes No. 1 Maryland to Koskinen Stadium, Saturday, March 2 at 11 a.m., on ESPNU. The Blue Devils and Terps have seen each other a combined six times in the past two seasons with Maryland holding a 4-2 edge in that span. Duke posted a thrilling overtime win thanks to a goal from Wolf 1:01 into overtime in the most recent regular season game between the two teams met at Koskinen.

Blue Devils Suffer Tough Road Loss
Duke hit the road for the first time this past weekend, traveling to the City of Brotherly Love to take on Pennsylvania of the Ivy League. The Blue Devils, in their fifth game this season, struggled offensively in the second half as the Quakers upended Duke 14-9 at historic Franklin Field. Duke led 7-6 at halftime but got outscored 5-1 in the fourth quarter to move to 2-3 overall for the year. Josh Offit, Jordan Wolf and Myles Jones all had two goals apiece, while Dan Wigrizer had 14 saves between the pipes.

Duke Versus No. 1 Since 2007
Duke will face a No. 1 team for the eighth time since 2007 when it meets Maryland Saturday. Under head coach John Danowski, the Blue Devils are 5-2 overall against top-ranked squads. Four of those wins have come against Virignia with the fifth being against Cornell in the NCAA Tournament in 2007. The losses were to Syracuse (2011) and Cornell (2007).

Duke in the NCAA rankings
The NCAA released its first edition of the national statistical rankings this week and Duke ranks among the top 10 teams in the nation in three categories. The Blue Devils come in at No. 5 nationally and tops in the ACC in faceoff win percentage, winning 62.4 percent of their draws. Duke is eighth in ground balls (37.4/gm) and 10th in man-up offense (.579). Individually, Brendan Fowler is the lone Blue Devil among the top 10 in a category. The junior draw man is third in ground balls per game (10.20) and sixth in faceoff percentage (.639). In fact, Fowler's 51 ground balls this season are just 22 shy of his career total at this point. Junior attackman Jordan Wolf is 14th in goals per game (3.00), while Luke Duprey is 16th in caused turnovers (2.40).

Wolf Streak Continues
Wolf continued his point scoring streak last week at Penn with a pair of tallies. He stretched his point streak to 25 games and has 47 goals and 39 assists for 86 points in that span. His 25-game streak ranks 10th among Division I players and is third amongst all juniors. Wolf has been held scoreless in just five games in his career.

Myles Jones Leads ACC Rookies
Freshman midfielder Myles Jones currently leads all freshmen in the ACC with five goals for a 1.00 goals per game average. Jones has a goal in four of the five games and registered his first multi-goal game at Penn this past Friday. The Huntington, N.Y., native runs on Duke's top midfield line and currently ranks fifth on the team in points with seven.

Battle at the X Awaits this Weekend
The Duke vs. Maryland matchup this weekend will feature two of the top faceoff groups in Division I lacrosse. The Blue Devils, behind the play of Fowler, are ranked fifth in faceoff win percentage (.624), while Maryland is just behind them in sixth (.617). Fowler has taken all but 14 draws this season, going 76-of-119, while Charlie Raffa (28-of-49) and Curtis Holmes (13-of-20) have split time at the X.

The Road Ahead
With No. 1 Maryland on the horizon this weekend, the road ahead for the Blue Devils doesn't get any easier. Duke welcomes reigning national champion and current No. 4 Loyola to town March 8 and then travels to ACC rival and No. 9 North Carolina March 13.

@Duke_MLAX loses to Penn 14-9. 33% of their goals were assisted....Penn 57%. Assisted goals=multifaceted offense. Dino will get them there.
