Duke Falls to Nation's No. 1
The Blue Devils squared off with a top-ranked squad for the eighth time since head coach John Danowski took over the reins in 2007 when it welcomed No. 1 Maryland to Koskinen Stadium this past weekend. The Terrapins scored early and built a 7-1 lead and never looked back en route to the 16-7 victory. Josh Offit matched his season high with a pair of goals, while Jordan Wolf added two assists.

Duke played all four goalies during the 60 minutes with Kyle Turri playing 39:47 and making four saves. The loss to the No. 1 Terrapins put Duke at 5-3 against top-ranked squads since 2007.

Notable Firsts
Redshirt senior Dan DiMaria and freshman Case Matheis both earned their first starts in a Blue Devil uniform this past weekend. DiMaria joined Chris Hipps and Bill Conners on the close defense, while Matheis was a part of the attacking trio with Jordan Wolf and Josh Dionne. Junior longstick midfielder Luke Duprey took a pair of faceoffs for the first time for the Blue Devils and goaltenders Ben Krebs and Luke Aaron saw their first ACC action between the pipes.

Offit Playing Well
Senior captain Josh Offit anchors the second midfield line with seven goals and two assists for nine points. His nine points are over half of his total from a year ago (17), while his seven goals are four shy of the 11 from 2012. The Bethesda, Md., native has two points in four games and at least one point in five of his six outings this season.

Wolf Continues Streak
Despite being unable to get on the board with a goal, junior attackman Jordan Wolf stretched his point streak to 26 games with a pair of assists against Maryland. Wolf has 47 goals and 41 assists for 68 points over the previous 26 contests.  His streak is 10th nationally and third among juniors in Division I lacrosse.

Ground Ball Hog
Junior Brendan Fowler continued to gobble up ground balls last weekend, picking up 10 against No. 1 Maryland. The Blue Devils' draw man grabbed double digit ground balls for the fifth time this season and currently ranks second nationally in ground balls per game (10.17). His 61 grounders this season are just 12 shy of the previous two years combined.

A Streak Ends
Duke, after suffering its latest setback to No. 1 Maryland, fell out of the rankings for the first time since April 26, 2004. The Blue Devils spent nearly nine seasons among the top 20 squads, including being among the top nine for a total of 98 weeks during the four months that the rankings are released.

Tough Schedule Continues
Duke's gauntlet of ranked opponents continues this week when it welcomes reigning NCAA Champion and No. 4 Loyola to Koskinen Stadium Friday night. The Blue Devils are 14-10 all-time against the Greyhounds and 5-2 under Danowski. Duke last lost to Loyola in Durham in a 10-8 setback in 2001. The Blue Devils then take on ACC rival North Carolina March 13 on ESPNU at 7:30 p.m.
