Duke Gets Win No. 500
Behind five goals from Christian Walsh and 21 faceoff wins by Brendan Fowler, Duke captured the program’s 500th victory with a 17-11 win over Harvard. First starting in 1938, the Blue Devils are 500-387-1 in their 75 seasons. Twenty-eight percent, 143, of those wins have come since 2005 and 183 of the wins – 36.6 percent – have come since 2000.
Walsh Hits His Markers
Senior midfielder Christian Walsh is starting to hit his stride. The second-year middie has registered six goals and six assists for 12 points, surpassing his points total from the previous nine games combined. Walsh started his hot streak with a career-high six assists and seven points in Duke’s 21-7 win over Syracuse. The following week, the Baltimore, Md., native struck for five goals to lead the Blue Devils to a 17-11 win over Harvard. In his previous nine games, Walsh had just six goals and five assists and multiple points in just two of those games.
Midfield Starting to Come Together
In the past two games, Duke’s first midfield line of Deemer Class, Myles Jones and Christian Walsh have amassed 36 points (22g, 14a). The trio registered 23 against Syracuse and 13 more versus Harvard. The Blue Devils’ first midfield contingent is a young group of sophomores in Class and Jones and Walsh, who is in his second year at the position. The second line features freshman Jack Bruckner, sophomore Chad Cohan and junior Kyle Keenan with only one of them having played more than 10 games coming into the 2014 season. All six midfielders have scored in the past two games and all have at least six points on the year.

Fowler Moving Up The Charts
With his 21 faceoff victories, senior Brendan Fowler moved up to eighth on the NCAA all-time faceoff wins list with 675. He passed Stephen Robarge of VMI’s 670 and is 46 shy of moving past Denver’s Chase Carraro. Fowler has 385 ground balls to rank 14th in NCAA career history, besting CJ Costabile’s Duke career record of 376.
Duke Finishes March on High Note
After starting the month of March with setbacks to Maryland and Loyola, the Blue Devils finished off the busy month on a five-game win streak. Traditionally Duke’s busiest month of games – Duke played seven games in 28 days this season – the Blue Devils are 47-11 in March under head coach John Danowski.
Tall Tasks Await Blue Devils
A pair of tall tasks awaits the Blue Devils as they hit the road for a pair of ACC contests at Notre Dame and Virginia. Duke, 2-1 in the ACC, resumes its conference slate April 5 at Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish, ranked seventh this past week, are coming off of an 11-10 setback at Syracuse and are 2-1 in the ACC. Duke is 0-4 in regular season games since 2010 and has not beaten Notre Dame in the regular season since a 13-7 victory in 1993. Virginia, 1-2 in conference play and ranked eighth last week, is coming off a 9-6 loss to ACC foe Maryland.  The Blue Devils have won eight straight regular season games against the Cavaliers.
