DURHAM -- The second installment of the Duke Football Summer Spotlight series features returning starting running back Juwan Thompson, who is one of two active running backs in the ACC to have caught 20 or more passes in each of the past two seasons.

In 2012, Thompson earned Academic All-ACC honors after rushing 75 times for 352 yards while catching 24 passes for an additional 128 yards.  In Duke’s win over Virginia, he rushed for a season-high 71 yards while scoring two touchdowns.

Thompson, a native of Fairburn, Ga., stands just 104 yards of becoming the 40th player in Duke history to amass 1,000 rushing yards.  Among active running backs in the ACC, Thompson enters the 2013 season ranking first in receiving yards (351), second in pass receptions (49), fifth in pass receptions per game (1.36), fifth in receiving yards per game (9.75), tied for sixth in total points (66), tied for seventh in total TDs (11), eighth in rushing attempts (210), eighth in rushing yards (896), eighth in total TDs per game (0.31) and ninth in points per game (1.83).

The Duke Football Summer Spotlight will run every Wednesday during the summer, leading up to the start of football camp in August.
