Scouting the Panthers
High Point has compiled a 4-4 ledger entering the midweek contest against Duke ... The Panthers are coming off of an 11-4 victory over first-year program Elon Sunday in High Point, N.C. ... Mackenzie Carroll (13g, 9a) paces the offense with 22 points while Alec Perry has totaled 19 points (14g, 5a) ... Jasmine Jordan and Sara Kuhlman have combined for 29 wins at the draw ... Jordan also leads the team in caused turnovers with 14 ... In goal, Julia Burns is the Big South leader in goals against average at 9.13 and ranks among the top 30 goalkeepers nationally in save percentage with a .463 clip entering the week ... The Panthers lead their conference in scoring margin (0.88) and scoring defense (9.50).

The Blue Devils are ranked seventh in this week’s IWLCA Coaches Poll ... Junior attacker Kerrin Maurer guides the offense with 35 goals and 21 assists while junior Taylor Trimble is second on the team with 28 points (22g, 6a) ... Returning All-American defender Taylor Virden leads the way in draw controls (43) and caused turnovers (14) ... Sophomore goalkeeper Kelsey Duryea, a second team All-America selection last spring, owns a 10.06 goals against average and a .457 save percentage in the net ... Last Time Out
Syracuse used a balanced scoring attack and strong play at the draw to hand the Blue Devils a 19-15 loss in the teams’ first meeting Saturday, March 29 at the Carrier Dome ... Trailing 18-9 with less than 10 minutes remaining, Duke generated six goals before the end of regulation but was unable to come back from the deficit ... Senior Kerrin Maurer led the Blue Devil attack with four goals and two assists while junior Taylor Trimble, senior Sydney Peterson and Skaneateles, N.Y., native Maddy Morrissey also had hat tricks ... Senior defender Taylor Virden won five draw controls and added two ground balls ... In goal, sophomore Kelsey Duryea totaled nine saves and registered three ground balls.

Against Ranked Opponents
Since the 2008 season, Duke is 42-41 against ranked teams ... The Blue Devils have lost just seven times to teams outside the top-10 in the past six years ... The squad went 5-5 against ranked opponents in 2013 ... Duke is 1-4 against ranked foes this season following last weekend’s 19-15 loss to No. 3 Syracuse.

Scheduling the Best
Duke’s 2014 slate currently features nine teams ranked in the top 20 of the latest IWLCA Coaches Poll ... Duke in the National Landscape
In the March 31 edition of the NCAA’s Division I team statistics, the Blue Devils ranked seventh nationally in points with 237 through 11 games ... Duke also ranked among the top 20 teams in the country in scoring offense (9th, 14.91gpg), draw controls (13.91/gm) and scoring margin (15th, 5.00).

Trimble Reaches 100-Point Milestone
Junior midfielder Taylor Trimble tallied three points last Saturday against Syracuse to move her career total to 100 points ... She is the 21st player in program history to reach the milestone ... An IWLCA All-South Region second team and All-ACC selection last season, Trimble has amassed at least 30 points in each of her previous two seasons and is on pace for a career-best output this spring.

Balanced Attack
Fifteen different Blue Devils have scored a goal and 14 players have notched at least one assist this season ... Twelve Blue Devils have recorded multiple-goal games, led by junior Kerrin Maurer, who owns six hat tricks ... In a 25-4 season-opening victory over Elon Feb. 7, 14 different Duke players found the back of the net with Maurer tallying a career-high six markers.

Maurer Quarterbacking the Offense
Junior attacker Kerrin Maurer is once again one of the Blue Devils’ most dependable playmakers up front ... She leads the team this spring in points (56), goals (35) and assists (21) and ranks second in draw controls (30) ... The Setauket, N.Y., native ranks second in the ACC and seventh nationally in points per game with a 5.09 average ... Maurer is also third in the conference in scoring at 3.18 goals per game and ranks seventh nationally in goals.

Virden Quick on the Draw
Duke is 5-1 this spring when winning the draw controls category ... Senior defender Taylor Virden has been scrappy on the wings, leading the team with 43 draw controls ... She ranked sixth in the ACC in draws entering the week ... Virden won a career-high six draws last season against Vanderbilt (March 2, 2013) and matched that total with six against Virginia last weekend ... The Ellicott City, Md., native moved into second on Duke’s all-time list for career draw controls last weekend and owns 165 over her four seasons.

Virden, Duryea Among ACC Leaders
Returning IWLCA All-Americans Taylor Virden and Kelsey Duryea continue to anchor the defense in 2014 ... Duryea ranks second in the conference in ground balls per game (2.64) while Virden is eighth (1.91) ... Duryea is also second among ACC goalkeepers with an average of 8.00 saves per game ... Virden ranks fifth in the league in caused turnovers per game (1.27).

Scoring Streaks
Junior Kerrin Maurer has tallied at least one point in a career-high 17 consecutive games dating back to last season ... The Setauket, N.Y., native has scored multiple goals in all 11 games this spring and recorded multiple assists seven times ... Sophomore Kelci Smesko (12 games) is also in the midst of career-long scoring streak.

Maurer, Virden Moving Up Career Lists
Senior defender Taylor Virden and junior attacker Kerrin Maurer provide veteran experience at both ends of the field ... Maurer paces the Blue Devils in points, goals and assists this season and currently ranks fifth in program history in career assists (80) and 11th in career points (175) ... Maurer reached the 100-point barrier and topped the 50-assist milestone as a sophomore last season ... Virden leads the team in draw controls and caused turnovers in 2014 and ranks second all-time in career draw controls with 165 ... She reached the 100-ground ball mark for her career against Virginia (March 22), becoming the 26th player in Duke history to amass 100 ground balls.
