DURHAM, N.C. – Four Blue Devils have earned spots on USA Field Hockey’s Junior Women’s National Squads for the coming year following a busy couple of weeks of competition on the national scene.

Freshmen Alyssa Chillano and Alexa Mackintire were selected to the Under-21 junior national team while classmates Sarah Furey and Ainsley Gill were named to the Under-19 squad for the 2014-15 season. All four Blue Devils were invited to Junior National Camp this week in Lancaster, Pa., after previously competing in the Under-21 Women’s National Championship, Futures Elite Championship or the National Futures Championship.

Chillano was a member of the Under-21 junior national team that qualified for the 2013 Junior World Cup with a strong showing at the Junior Pan-Am Games in Mexico during the fall of 2012. The midfielder from Phoenixville, Pa., was also previously selected to the U.S. Under-19 and Under-17 junior squads for tours to Canada and Holland.

Furey was also a previous member of the U.S. Under-19 and Under-17 teams as well as a U.S. Futures Elite/High Performance athlete. She guided Bishop Eustace to a pair of New Jersey Group II state titles and totaled 51 goals and 63 assists during her prep career.

A midfielder from Virginia Beach, Va., Gill garnered selection to the U.S. Under-17 junior national squad in 2012-13. She tallied 45 goals and 75 assists in four seasons for Norfolk Academy while receiving Southern Region All-America distinction her senior year.

Mackintire was a U.S. Under-19 and Under-17 junior national team member during her prep career at St. Mark’s School in Massachusetts. The defender was a two-time National Field Hockey Coaches Association All-America pick and compiled 18 goals and 18 assists as a senior to earn league MVP honors.
