DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke fencing team will compete in its final meet of the regular season this Saturday, Feb. 23, at the Temple Duals in Philadelphia, Pa.
The Duke men and women enter their final meet following matching 4-1 performances at the Duke Home Meet on Feb. 9-10. Both the men’s and women’s squads upset top-five opponents at the home event, as the No. 10 Duke men upended No. 2 Notre Dame and the 11th-ranked women knocked off No. 5 Penn State.
At Temple, the Duke women will face four ranked opponents in No. 2 Princeton, No. 5 Penn State, No. 6 St. John’s and No. 9 Temple. The men will take on three top-five teams, facing No. 1 Penn State, No. 3 Princeton and No. 5 St. John’s.
The Duke men enter the weekend with a 14-6 record, while the women own a 15-7 mark. Following the Temple Duals, qualifying Blue Devils will compete in the Mid-Atlantic Regionals on Saturday, March 9, in hopes of qualifying for the 2013 NCAA Championships on March 21-24 in San Antonio, Texas.
