DURHAM, N.C. – Duke 2012 graduate Stefanie Fee was named to the United States Field Hockey National Team for the second consecutive year, as announced by the organization’s head coach Craig Parnham last week.   The 30-member squad was named at the conclusion of the 2013 Women’s National Championship in Norfolk, Va., and will include 12 Olympians.

Fee earned 18 caps in her first year with the squad, which was highlighted by winning the World League Second Round in Rio de Janerio, Brazil.  The victory qualified the squad for the World League Round Three in London later this month.  The defensive specialist also served as Duke’s 2012 volunteer assistant in between training sessions and competition.

“This week has afforded me the opportunity to see players and assess them equally,” said Parnham. “It has been great to meet a number of new coaches, and we are pleased to have had a thorough look at the players. The selection process has been ongoing throughout the week, including discussions and dialogue with coaches, daily meetings, and assessing and reassessing the players.”

The women selected to the national squad have already begun training at Rutgers University in order to prepare for the International Field Hockey Federation’s World League Semi-Final June 22-30.  In the fall, the team will relocate to Lancaster, Pa., to continue training throughout the year.
