MÖNCHENGLADBACH, GERMANY – The 2013 ERGO Hockey Junior World Cup kicked off Saturday, July 27, with Blue Devils Lauren Blazing and Aileen Johnson guiding Team USA to an opening win over Korea.

Following an hour-long rain delay, the U.S. used a second-half scoring burst to break a 1-1 tie, sending the squad to a 4-1 victory over Pool A opponent Korea. Blazing, Johnson and Team USA continue pool play Sunday, July 28 against the Netherlands.

Fellow Blue Devil Jessica Buttinger was in action Saturday with Team Canada, which fell to Argentina, 4-0, in its first game. The Canadian squad will next face China in Pool B competition Sunday.
