MÖNCHENGLADBACH, GERMANY – The United States under-21 national team played to a seventh-place finish and the Canadian U-21 squad to a 14th-place finish Sunday, Aug. 4 on the final day of action at the 2013 ERGO Hockey Junior World Cup.

Blue Devils Lauren Blazing and Aileen Johnson helped Team USA collect a 4-2 victory over South Africa in the seventh-place match. The U.S. scored an early goal and never looked back on its way to the two-goal win, finishing the international tournament with a 3-3 ledger.

Duke forward Jessica Buttinger and the Canadian team took on Belgium in the 13th-place contest Sunday. With the score knotted 1-1 at the end of regulation, the teams went to a shootout. Belgium won the shootout, 2-1, giving Canada a 14th-place finish. The squad went 1-5 at the Junior World Cup, with Buttinger notching the game-winning goal in a 5-1 victory over Russia Friday in Germany.
