DURHAM, N.C. – Former Blue Devil Stefanie Fee has been named to the U.S. women’s national field hockey team’s 18-player roster for the upcoming Pan American Cup, as announced Friday, Sept. 6 by national team head coach Craig Parnham.

Fee, who has been a member of Team USA since the summer of 2012, will travel with the squad to Mendoza, Argentina to compete at the 2013 edition of the Pan American Cup Sept. 21-28. The U.S. is coming off of a fifth-place finish at the World League Semi-Final in June, and has been placed in Pool B along with Chile, Mexico and Uruguay for the upcoming international tournament. Pool play begins Saturday, Sept. 21 and continues through Tuesday, Sept. 24 in Mendoza, with the semifinals slated for Thursday, Sept. 26 and the championship match Saturday, Sept. 28.

The winner of the 2013 Pan American Cup will receive automatic qualification to the 2014 World Cup, which will be held in The Hague, Netherlands. The U.S. came in sixth at the 2006 World Cup but missed qualifying in 2010.

"I am very excited about my selection for the Pan American Cup," Fee said. "It has been a very demanding period of training and I am excited to represent the USA in Argentina."

A 2012 graduate of Duke, Fee started every game for the Blue Devils during her four seasons in Durham. The standout defender garnered All-America, All-ACC and All-ACC Tournament accolades her senior year, in addition to being named to the Longstreth/NFHCA All-South Region first team.

"I have really enjoyed my experience with the national team thus far and am so blessed to play the sport I love as a career," Fee said. "I have been able to travel around the world and represent my country with a team that I hold very close to my heart. I will continue to love and live in each moment as I reach towards my goal of playing in the 2016 Olympic Games."
