DURHAM, N.C. – Former Duke standout Stefanie Fee and the United States women’s national field hockey team will begin their quest for a World Cup title Sunday, June 1 in The Hague, Netherlands. The U.S. squad is coming off of a gold medal performance at the Champions Challenge earlier this month and looks to carry that momentum into one of the most important events in the international field hockey community.

The United States has been selected to compete in Pool B along with second-seeded Argentina, third-seeded England, Germany, China and South Africa. Host Netherlands, the tournament’s top-seeded team, is in Pool A with Australia, New Zealand, Korea, Japan and Belgium.

The U.S. women finished sixth in the 2006 World Cup but missed qualification in 2010. The team is also looking to demonstrate improvement from its performance at the 2012 London Olympic Games.

Team USA opens pool play against England Sunday at 7 a.m. EST. Pool play continues through June 10 with the tournament final slated for Saturday, June 14.

All matches of the Rabobank Hockey World Cup will be streamed on ESPN3. For more information about the event, visit
