DURHAM, N.C. – Duke juniors Tara Jennings and Rhian Jones have been named to the 2010 All-ACC Field Hockey team as announced today, Nov. 3, by the league office. The selections were made by a vote of the conference’s six head coaches.

Selected to the preseason All-ACC squad, Jennings has been instrumental in the Duke midfield this season as she makes her first All-ACC appearance. The Macungie, Pa., native has totaled two goals and three assists to tie for second on the squad in points with seven. She has also garnered NFCHA National Academic All-America and All-ACC Academic team honors while at Duke.

A native of Havertown, Pa., Jones has helped solidify a stingy Duke defense this season, which has allowed opponents an average of 1.36 goals per game. A 2008 All-ACC and 2010 preseason all-league pick, she has also tallied a goal and two assists from the backline this season. In addition, Jones has been a key contributor to the Blue Devils the past three seasons, starting every game while earning third team NFHCA All-America, All-South Region, NFHCA National Academic All-America and ACC All-Academic team honors in her career.

In addition, both Duke juniors were selected to the 2011 U21 Junior National Team as announced by USA Field Hockey this past summer.

No. 1 Maryland led the league with five selections on the 17-member All-ACC team. North Carolina had four student-athletes recognized, while Virginia had three. Duke and Wake Forest each had two, with Boston College’s one selection rounding out the squad.

Duke is set to play Virginia tomorrow, Nov. 4, at 3:30 p.m. in the first round of the ACC Tournament, held at Kentner Stadium on the campus of Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, N.C.
