DURHAM, N.C. – Duke University Vice President and Director of Athletics Kevin White announced on Friday that Beth Bozman, the school’s head field hockey coach since 2003, has resigned.

In eight seasons at Duke, Bozman compiled an overall record of 115-56 (.673) with an ACC ledger of 13-25 (.342).  In 2010, the Blue Devils went 8-11 overall and 0-5 in conference action.  After securing NCAA Tournament berths in each of Bozman’s first six seasons, Duke failed to advance to postseason play the past two years.

“I think it's time for a change here at Duke and for myself,” Bozman said.  “I've had eight great years here and to be able to compete in the ACC with the nation's best has been a genuine thrill.  I will miss the competition and the great players and people that I've had the opportunity to work with here."

In her 24 years as a head coach at Hofstra (1987), Princeton (1988-02) and Duke (2003-10), Bozman has posted a career record of 318-133 (.705) with 14 NCAA Tournament appearances.

Associate head coach Jarred Martin and assistant coach Caitlin Williams will remain on the Duke staff until Bozman’s successor is hired.  A national search for a head coach will begin immediately.
