MÖNCHENGLADBACH, GERMANY – The fourth day of competition at the 2013 ERGO Hockey Junior World Cup saw the U.S. U-21 national team fall to Argentina in the quarterfinals and the Canadian squad suffer a 3-1 loss to Korea in 9-16 placement play.
Team USA and Argentina remained scoreless for the first 33 minutes of the quarterfinal contest before Argentina scored on a penalty corner. The U.S. forced three penalty corners toward the end of the match but was unable to convert, and Argentina went on to win by a 2-0 score. Blue Devils Lauren Blazing and Aileen Johnson and the U.S. team will next face the loser of the quarterfinal match between Australia and England Friday, Aug. 2 in 5-8 placement.
Jessica Buttinger and Team Canada fell to Korea in 9-16 placement play Thursday, sending the squad to a 13-16 placement contest Friday against Russia.
