DURHAM, N.C. -- Recently, sat down with senior Paula Heimbach  to learn more about the Palm, Pa., native. Name your three favorite things about being a student-athlete at Duke.

Paula Heimbach: Definitely being a part of this team is great. Having a team to rely on and already having a sense of community here is really great. I think being a part of this athletic program is also special. I think it’s one of the best in the country. Combined with the academics, it’s at the top, and I think that’s invaluable. I think learning the valuable skills that you need in life is definitely a benefit of being here. Learning leadership and being able to communicate and work together as a team is really important once you move into the world after college. What is your favorite competition-related memory?
PH: I think my favorite memory was beating Old Dominion on their home turf when they were undefeated because I think they thought they were going to run away with it and go undefeated that season and we took it right out from underneath them. What is your favorite memory away from competition?
PH: I think all of the little moments like hanging out in the locker room. Just when we can be together as a team, some of those little moments are the best ones because you’re just hanging out as friends. Name three pet peeves?
PH: Slow walkers, when people move my things and slow drivers. Who are three people you’d like to have dinner with?
PH: I’d like to have dinner with any of my great grand-parents, because I never had a chance to meet them, and learning about my family’s history would be cool. I think dinner with the president would be cool. Also, dinner with any of the Phillies would be cool. I’m a big Phillies fan. Name three things that motivate you to perform.
PH: My teammates, the desire to be successful as a team and my parents.
