DURHAM, N.C. – Coming off of three consecutive wins, the seventh-ranked Duke field hockey squad continues a four-game homestand this weekend. The Blue Devils will play host to non-conference opponent California Friday, Oct. 4 at 6 p.m. before taking on ACC foe and 14th-ranked Wake Forest Sunday, Oct. 6 at 1 p.m. Both matches will be held at Williams Field at Jack Katz Stadium and will be streamed live on Inside Access.

Duke and the Golden Bears will square off for just the fifth time in program history, with the Blue Devils holding a 4-0 advantage in the series … In last fall’s meeting, senior defender Paula Heimbach tallied her first career goal to lift the Blue Devils to a 2-1 win in overtime.

Duke vs. the NorPac
The Blue Devils own a commanding 86-10-3 record historically against teams in the NorPac Conference … Duke is 2-0 against NorPac teams this season following a 6-0 shutout of Radford Sept. 22 and a 3-1 victory over Longwood Sept. 29.

Scouting the Golden Bears
Cal owns a 4-5 ledger after splitting a pair of contests with Pacific last weekend in Berkeley … Andrea Earle paces the Golden Bears’ offense with 10 points (4g, 2a) through nine contests … Goalkeeper Courtney Hendrickson is 4-5 in the cage with a 1.60 goals against average and a .778 save percentage, which is tied for 14th in the country.

Wake Forest Series History
The Blue Devils hold a 37-30 advantage in the all-time series with the Demon Deacons … Duke is 17-9 historically when facing Wake Forest at home in Durham … Last year’s meeting in Winston-Salem saw the Demon Deacons come away with a 3-2 win in double overtime.

Duke vs. the ACC
The Blue Devils are 79-165-4 all-time against teams in their own conference … The squad kicked off ACC play last weekend with a thrilling 3-2 overtime shootout victory over previously top-ranked and unbeaten North Carolina.

Duke (8-2, 1-0 ACC) toppled top-ranked and undefeated North Carolina, 3-2, in an overtime shootout Friday, Sept. 27 in its ACC opener … Senior forward Emmie Le Marchand scored with just over a minute remaining in regulation to tie the game before the Blue Devils won the shootout, 5-4 … Redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Lauren Blazing demolished her previous career high with 22 saves, marking the highest single-game total by an ACC goalkeeper this season … Duke returned home Sunday, Sept. 29 to host Longwood, topping the Lancers by a 3-1 margin.

Blazing Recognized for Career-Best Performance vs. North Carolina
Redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Lauren Blazing was named the ACC Player of the Week and the Ronald McDonald House Charities Duke Student-Athlete of the Week after leading the Blue Devils to a 2-0 weekend … The Durham, N.C., native totaled 22 saves against 24 shots on goal in the thrilling win over the Tar Heels as Duke edged its conference rival for the first time since 2006 … Blazing’s performance in the ACC opener also included a critical stop on North Carolina’s fourth shootout attempt … She has compiled a 1.14 goals against average, which is tied for ninth nationally and ranks fourth in the ACC … Blazing has also recorded a save percentage of .833 to lead the conference and rank second in the country.

Balanced Scoring by Blue Devil Offense
Twelve different Duke players have tallied a point through 10 games this fall … Ten different Blue Devils have registered a goal, led by senior Emmie Le Marchand and freshman Heather Morris with six each … Le Marchand paces the squad 17 points … Junior midfielder Abby Beltrani has totaled a career-best seven assists to rank sixth in the ACC in assists per game … Five different players scored in Duke’s 6-0 win over Radford Sept. 22.

Duke Defense Among Best in ACC
Anchored by Lauren Blazing in goal and senior Paula Heimbach and sophomore Amanda Kim on the back line, the Blue Devil defense is allowing just 1.30 goals per game to tie for third in the ACC … The unit has posted three shutouts this season, holding Indiana (Aug. 30), Old Dominion (Sept. 15) and Radford (Sept. 22) scoreless.

Le Marchand Moving Up Career Charts
After topping the 100-point mark for her career earlier this season, senior forward Emmie Le Marchand continues to etch her name into the program record books … With 108 goals for her career, the Worcester, England product currently sits eighth overall in school history … Le Marchand also ranks seventh all-time in career goals (44) and 16th in career assists (20).

ACC Well-Represented in NFHCA Coaches Poll
The ACC continues to dominate the Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll, placing six schools within the top 10 … The Blue Devils moved up six spots to No. 7 in the poll after topping previously unbeaten and top-ranked North Carolina last weekend … Maryland took over the top spot in this week’s poll and the Tar Heels dropped to No. 3 while Virginia (4), Syracuse (5) and Boston College (9) are also within the top 10 … Wake Forest, the Blue Devils’ opponent Sunday, comes in at No. 14.
