CAMDEN, N.J. - Duke's open quad won the gold medal on day one of the Knecht Cup on Saturday, April 10, on the Cooper River, and seven Blue Devils boats advanced to Saturday's Grand Finals.

The Duke quartet of Kathryn Lowry, Alex Japhet, Laura Sciarrino and Stephanie Rosser finished with a time of 7:29.84 in the final, besting runner-up UMass (7:39.89) by more than 10 seconds.

Also advancing to Sunday's Grand Final were Duke's varsity eight, second varsity eight, both entries in the varsity pair and three individuals in the single. All seven of those boats advanced out of their first heat and past the semifinals to move on to Sunday's medal rounds.
