DURHAM, N.C. - Duke senior Alex Japhet and sophomore Emily Theys are two of just 24 rowers that have been selected to participate in the 2011 USRowing Women's U23 National Team Camp this summer.

"We are really excited for them to have this opportunity," said head coach Robyn Horner. "Both Theys and Japhet are leaders within our program.  We support them as they strive to represent the United States at U23 Worlds."

Last year both rowers participated in the pre-elite camp and finished by racing at the USRowing Club Nationals in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Both Theys and Japhet rowed in the senior eight that won a gold medal.

The camp will start at the High Performance Training Center in Oklahoma City, OK on June 2. This camp will select the Open Women's 8+ and 4x to compete at the 2011 FISA U23 World Championships scheduled for July 20-24 in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The camp also plans to select Open Women's 2-, 4- and 2x to compete at U23 Trials June 27-29 at Mercer Lake, N.J.
