The Trials kick off Monday, June 25 with preliminaries beginning at 11 a.m. EST each day and finals slated for 7:45 p.m. EST. NBC and NBC Sports Network will air live and same-day coverage of preliminaries and finals, with finals also being streamed live on NBCOlympics.com each evening.
Eight current members of the Duke Swimming & Diving program have qualified to compete at Trials, including All-ACC performer Christine Wixted, who is seeded 47th in the 200-meter breaststroke and 63rd at the 100-meter distance. Rising junior Lauren Weaver is seeded 51st in the 50 freestyle, while rising senior Ben Hwang is seeded 61st in the same event on the men's side.
The 100 breaststroke will feature two Blue Devils, as rising senior Jim Zuponeck and rising junior Hunter Knight both made Trials cuts in the event. Knight is also seeded 64th in the 200 breaststroke.
Rising senior Ted Minturn will compete in the 200 backstroke, while rising senior Cara Vogel will swim in the same event on the women's side. Meanwhile, rising sophomore Megan McCarroll will take to the water in the 100 backstroke.
Former All-American and 2011 graduate Ashley Twichell, who just missed qualifying for the U.S. Olympic Team in open water swimming, will compete in two events at Trials. She is seeded 15th in the 800 freestyle and 48th in the 400 freestyle.
The top two swimmers in each individual event will earn spots on the U.S Olympic Team, while the top four finishers in the 100-meter and 200-meter freestyle events will also officially qualify. There is an option to add the fifth and sixth-place finishers to the squad as alternates.
