DURHAM, N.C. - Olympic medalists and Duke divers Abby Johnston and Nick McCrory were honored in front of a crowd of over 9,000 fans at the Durham Bulls' game Thursday evening at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park.

Johnston and McCrory threw out ceremonial first pitches prior to the start of Thursday's 3-2 Bulls' victory over the Norfolk Tides. They also met signed autographs, posed for pictures and displayed their medals for fans on the concourse of the stadium during the game.

"It's such an honor to be here and have the support not just from Duke, but Durham and my hometown as well," McCrory said. "It's really incredible and a lot of fun, and Abby and I are so happy to be here."

Later in the game, McCrory and Johnston joined the Bulls' radio broadcast crew on the air to reflect on the evening and their whirlwind week of appearances since returning from London.

"It's been amazing from start to finish," Johnston said. "Since getting back, I've had so many cool experiences and met so many neat people. I'm just really appreciative for all the support."

As members of Team USA, Johnston and McCrory snapped a 12-year medal drought for the United States in Olympic diving. Johnston helped the U.S. capture its first Olympic medal in a synchronized diving event when she and Kelci Bryant won the silver in the women's synchronized 3-meter competition at the London Games. Just one day later, McCrory and David Boudia captured the bronze in the men's synchronized 10-meter platform event. A native of Chapel Hill, N.C., McCrory also advanced to the finals of the men's individual 10-meter platform competition and finished ninth overall.
