Hwang was named the ACC Male Swimmer of the Week after guiding the Blue Devil men to a second-place finish at the season-opening All-North Carolina Invitational last weekend in Greensboro, N.C. The senior from Cerritos, Calif., posted individual wins in the 50-yard freestyle and the 100 freestyle while finishing second in the 100 breaststroke. Hwang's time of 20.03 at the 50-yard distance is currently tied for first in the nation, while his 45.09 clocking in the 100 freestyle ranks eighth overall.
In addition, Hwang was also an integral part of Duke's success in the relay events at the two-day meet. He anchored the 200 freestyle and 200 medley relays to a pair of first-place showings and was a member of the 400 freestyle and 400 medley relays that finished second overall.
Wixted received ACC Female Swimmer of the Week recognition for her performance at the All-North Carolina Invitational, which saw the Duke women take third in the team standings. Individually, Wixted swept the 100 and 200 breaststroke events and won the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:57.86 while swimming the event for the first time in her collegiate career. The junior from Greenwood Village, Colo., also competed on the Blue Devils' first-place 400 medley relay, as well as the 200 freestyle and 200 medley relays that earned second-place finishes.
Wixted's 2:20.17 clocking in the 200 breaststroke currently ranks 12th in the country, while her time of 1:05.21 at the 100-yard distance is good for 17th overall.
The Blue Devils return to action on Oct. 27 when they host Virginia Tech, Florida State and UNC Wilmington at Taishoff Aquatic Pavilion at 2 p.m.
