DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke swimming and diving programs will be well-represented at the 2014 Phillips 66 National Championship this week, with several Blue Devils slated to compete at one of the biggest swimming events of the summer.

The meet opens Wednesday, Aug. 6 at the William Woollett, Jr. Aquatics Center in Irvine, Calif., and continues through Sunday, Aug. 10. It features some of the best swimmers from around the country – including a number of Olympians. The event serves as the selection meet for the 2014 Pan Pacific Championships, 2015 World Aquatic Championships, 2015 World University Games and 2015 Pan American Games.

Sophomore Michael Miller and incoming freshman Isabella Paez will kick off the action for Duke Wednesday in the 200m butterfly. Former Blue Devil Emily Barber and sophomore Peter Kropp will take to the water Thursday in the 200m breaststroke while Friday’s events will see Miller compete in the 400 IM and Barber, Kropp and sophomore Dylan Payne swim in the 50m breaststroke. Barber, Kropp and Payne are also qualified for Saturday’s 100m breaststroke preliminaries, and Kropp and Miller will wrap up the meet Sunday in the 200 IM.

The national championships will follow the traditional meet schedule of morning preliminary heats beginning at 12 p.m. EST and evening finals at 9 p.m. EST. Universal Sports, NBC and NBC Sports Network will provide live and delayed broadcast coverage of the meet. Morning preliminaries will be streamed on For a complete schedule of events, click here.
