INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Duke head diving coach Drew Johansen was named the head coach of USA Diving's 2011 World Championships team on Wednesday.

"I am looking forward to the competition," said Johansen. "I am honored to be named the head coach. I have to thank Nick (McCrory) and Abby (Johnston) because this honor comes directly from their performances."

Assisting Johansen will be John Wingfield, the coach of the 2008 U.S. Olympic team. Both coaches have been responsible for coaching two of the 14 athletes selected the 2011 world team.

The 2011 World Championships will be held in Shanghai, China, July 16-24. They will serve as the first opportunity for countries to qualify for the 2012 Olympic Games.
