CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Nine members of the Duke men's and women's swimming & diving teams are looking to achieve 2012 U.S. Olympic Team Trial standards this weekend at the Charlotte UltraSwim Grand Prix, hosted by USA Swimming May 10-13 at the Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center in downtown Charlotte.

Friday's action was highlighted by rising junior Lauren Weaver's performance in the 50-meter freestyle. The Cincinnati, Ohio native posted a time of 25.93 during the Midday Meet to earn an Olympic Trials cut and edge a field of 12 other swimmers in the event.

Rising senior Jim Zuponeck qualified for Friday evening's finals session in two events, making the cut in both the 50 and 100-meter breaststroke. Zuponeck clocked 1:04.89 to finish tied for 21st in the 100 breast preliminaries before taking 22nd in the event finals with a time of 1:05.18. He also notched a 13th-place finish in the finals of the 50 breast, recording a time of 29.44.

Friday morning's session saw rising sophomore Megan McCarroll place 21st in the prelims of the 50-meter backstroke, touching at 30.47. McCarroll also competed in the 100-meter backstroke at the Midday Meet, taking first in 1:04.02. Meanwhile, Ali Horn earned a second-place finish in the 200-meter butterfly during the afternoon session, posting a time of 2:27.62.
