DURHAM, N.C. - Senior Abby Johnston garnered Atlantic Coast Conference Female Diver of the Week honors Tuesday, as announced by the conference office.
In last Saturday's dual meet against South Carolina, Johnston edged the field to take first in the women's 1-meter springboard diving competition. Her score of 309.83 was also good for NCAA Zone Diving Championships qualification.
A silver medalist in synchronized 3-meter springboard diving at the 2012 Olympic Games in London, last Saturday's meet marked just Johnston's second outing of the 2012-13 season. She has amassed 22 wins on the 1-meter board for her collegiate career, including 18 times in regular season action.
Johnston and the Blue Devils travel to Charlottesville, Va., to take on reigning ACC champions Virginia Sunday, Jan. 20 at 12 p.m.
