Following an absence from the ACC Championships last season during his training for the 2012 London Olympic Games, McCrory captured the 2013 ACC titles in the 1-meter, 3-meter and platform diving events while also breaking his own conference record on the 3-meter with a total score of 498.60. His three first-place finishes earned 60 points for the Blue Devil men in the team standings for this week's championship meet, putting them in second place overall heading into the first day of competition Wednesday.
A native of Chapel Hill, N.C., McCrory was also tabbed the ACC's Most Valuable Male Diver for the third time in as many appearances at the championship meet. With seven ACC diving crowns in his career, he is now the most decorated diver - male or female - in the history of the conference.
The 2013 ACC Men's Swimming & Diving Championships begin Wednesday, Feb. 27 at 6 p.m. at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.
