ATHENS, Ga. - Sophomore Lauren Weaver broke her own school record in the 50 freestyle for the third time this season on the first day of competition Saturday at the Bulldog Last Chance Meet, hosted by the University of Georgia in the Bulldogs' Gabrielsen Natatorium.

After clocking a program record time of 22.79 in a fifth-place showing at last week's 2012 ACC Women's Swimming & Diving Championships, Weaver topped that performance Saturday evening in Athens. She touched in a time of 22.76 to take third in the championship final of the 50 freestyle, while also surpassing the NCAA provisional standard in the event. Weaver also posted a mark of 22.81 in Saturday morning's preliminaries.

Sophomore Christine Wixted, an All-ACC performer in the 100 and 200 breaststroke at the ACC Championships, also competed at the last chance meet. Wixted grabbed a pair of NCAA 'B' cuts in the 100 breaststroke, swimming 1:01.89 in the prelims and returning Saturday evening for a 1:02.31 performance to finish sixth overall.

The Bulldog Last Chance Meet concludes Sunday. Live results are available at http://www.georgiadogs.com/livestats/c-swim/12lastchance/.
