Hartmann earned the No. 8 seed at 197 pounds, while Gambucci rounds out the 133-pound division as the 12th seed. The 2013 Southern Scuffle kicks presented by Defense Soap kicks off Jan. 1 at Chattanooga's McKenzie Arena. Action begins at 10 a.m. Jan. 1. The field features seven NCAA Champions, 10 NCAA finalists and 20 All-Americans. Five of the top 10 programs and seven top 25 teams will be among the 23 teams in the field.
A redshirt freshman, Hartmann heads to the Southern Scuffle with a 14-4 overall record for the season, including a 12-2 mark in tournament action. He has been ranked for much of the season and owns three top three tournament finishes and was named the ACC Co-Wrestler of the Week following his win at the Hokie Open.
At 133 pounds, redshirt sophomore Gambucci is 8-1 overall and has a team-leading five falls for the year. The Duke Student-Athlete of the Week following his strong performance at Northwestern, Gambucci is on a seven-match win streak with five of those victories coming by pin.
Duke (1-3) last competed Dec. 8 in a tri-meet at Michigan. The Blue Devils open ACC action following the Southern Scuffle at Virginia Tech, Jan. 12.
