In this week's installment of the Blue Devil Vault, Blue Devil Network takes a look back at two of the all-time greats in Duke basketball history, guard Bob Verga and center Mike Lewis.
Verga was a 6-0 guard from Sea Girt, N.J., who played from 1964-67 and averaged 22.0 points for his Duke career. Ranked 20th on Duke's all-time scoring chart, Verga was a career .490 shooter from the floor and held Duke's single-season record with 26.1 points per game until J.J. Redick broke that mark in 2006 (26.8).
Lewis was also a member of Duke's 1,000-point club, finishing his three-year career from 1966-68 with 1.417 points and 16.9 points per game. A 6-7 center from Missoula, Mont., Lewis averaged a double-double for his career with 12.5 rebounds per game, a mark that stood as the school's all-time record when he graduated in 1968.
