DURHAM, N.C. - The Duke women's lacrosse team placed four members on the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division I Academic Honor Roll for the 2011-12 season, as announced by the organization Wednesday.

Kat Thomas, a 2012 graduate of Duke, as well as rising seniors Monica DeMairo, Mie Graham and Makenzie Hommel were among the 173 student-athletes from 56 different institutions named to this year's honor roll. All student-athletes were nominated by their schools and have achieved at least junior status academically. Twenty-seven of the 173 student-athletes recognized by the IWLCA were members of teams that advanced to the 2012 NCAA Tournament, including Duke's four representatives.

DeMairo, who is pursuing degrees in sociology and psychology as well as a certificate in Markets and Management Studies, has tallied six goals, nine ground balls and four draw controls for her career heading into her senior season. She received her third consecutive selection to the ACC Academic Honor Roll in 2012 and was the recipient of the 2011 Elite 88 Award, which recognizes the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade point average participating at the final site for each of the NCAA's championships.

Graham, a defender from Princeton, N.J., who is majoring in political science and pursing a certificate in Markets and Management Studies, earned 16 starting assignments in 2012 while seeing the field in all 19 contests. She recorded 12 ground balls to go with nine caused turnovers last season and was also named to the ACC Academic Honor Roll for the third straight year.

Hommel, who is majoring in sociology with a certificate in Markets and Management Studies, started 14 games during the 2012 campaign and totaled a career-best 25 goals and eight assists for the Blue Devils. The Setauket, N.Y., native has been named to the ACC Academic Honor Roll in each of her three seasons at Duke.

Thomas was named to the IWLCA Honor Roll for the second consecutive year after graduating in May with degrees in International Comparative Studies and Russian in addition to a certificate in Markets and Management Studies. She concluded her career at Duke ranked in the top 20 in points, goals and draw controls after accumulating 120 points, 111 goals and 162 draw controls over four seasons. A product of Latham, N.Y., Thomas was also a two-time All-ACC selection and an All-American in 2011.
