DURHAM, N.C. -The fifth ranked Duke Blue Devils open their season in Philadelphia, Penn., facing the 24th ranked Drexel Dragons Friday at 7 p.m. (ET) and the Temple Owls Sunday at 1 p.m. (ET).

"Both matches are great for us because so many of our kids are from that area," head coach Pam Bustin commented.  "It's a great way to open the season with family and friends and some great support while on the road but also really challenging us and where we are as we set up our 2012 season."

Inside Look at the Blue Devils
Duke returns seven starters including 2012 preseason All-ACC selection Emmie Le Marchand.  The Worcester, England, native scored 19 goals last season to rank as the 10th-highest single season total in the Duke record books. She also led the team by contributing seven assists. For her career, Le Marchand has tallied 27 goals total to rank 18th in the Duke career records.

Duke vs. Drexel
Duke leads all-time series with Drexel 5-1 and looks to improve on its series record this Friday night.  The two teams last met on September 4, 2011 when Duke claimed a 2-0 victory.  Le Marchand and Devon Gagliardi contributed the two goals late in the second half for the win.  Drexel is coached by Denise Zelenak and returns seven starters which will make for an exciting opener for the Blue Devils.

Duke vs. Temple
Duke faces Temple Sunday for the first time in over ten years.  The two teams last met in 1999 which resulted in a 5-0 Blue Devil victory.  Duke leads the series 7-1 overall.  Temple is coached by Amanda Janney and is in its final year in the Atlantic-10 conference.

Season Openers
Duke holds a record of 22-10 season openers and has won its past three season opening contests.   During Bustin's tenure, the squad is 1-0 in season openers after downing No. 6 Ohio State 3-2 in overtime to kick off the 2011 campaign.

Up Next
The Blue Devils will have their home opener against the Princeton Tigers next Friday night at Williams Field Jack Katz Stadium.  Game time is set for 6 p.m.
