Alex Merrill joined the Duke strength and conditioning staff in September of 2010. Merrill oversees program design and implementation for men’s and women’s golf, wrestling and track & field.
Before joining Duke, Merrill was the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach at Attain Sports Performance, a private training facility in Western Massachusetts.
Merrill holds a Bachelor’s degree from Keene State College in Physical Education and a Master’s degree from Springfield College in Applied Exercise Science. He is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength & Conditioning Association as well as Functional Movement Systems Certified.
Merrill also earned certification from Nike Golf 360 in 2013. The Nike Golf 360 is a holistic approach to improving golfers’ performance through physical evaluation and training, custom fitting of equipment and digital tracking tools. The NG 360 Functional Performance System (FPS) is the component of the Nike Golf 360 initiative that focuses on golfers and their bodies.
