2014-15: Saw action in five meets during the fall…finished as Duke’s top competitor in four of five contests…led Duke to a first-place finish at the JMU Invitational (9/13) after finishing second with an 8K time of 25:08.80…crossed the line as Duke’s first finisher at the Panorama Farms Invitational (9/26), clocking an 8K time of 25:15.90…ran a 10K time of 31:29.4 at the NCAA Southeast Regional Championships (11/14), placing 56th in the process…Indoors, focused on the 3,000…posted a season-best 3,000 time of 8:24.55 at the Hokie Invitational (1/23)…competed in the 3,000 at the ACC Indoor Championships (2/28), finishing 25th in a time of 8:24.88…Outdoors, ran a personal-best 1,500 time at the ACC Outdoor Championships (5/14), placing 16th with a time of 3:48.39…earned a top-three finish in the 5,000 at the Penn Relays (4/23), placing third in a time of 14:26.59…registered a team-best 5,000 time of 14:22.34 at the Raleigh Relays (3/27).
2013-14: Saw significant action in the fall, participating in six meets…opened the season with a fourth-place finish at the Bull City Classic (8/31)…set a personal-best 8K time of 24:44.73 at the Furman XC Challenge (9/14)…highest finish of the season came at the Royal Cross Country Challenge (10/11), where he placed second overall…Outdoors, competed three times…clocked a season-best time of 4:01.03 in the 1,500 at the Raleigh Relays (3/28)…also competed in the 3,000, placing sixth at the Joe Hilton Invitational (4/12) in a time of 8:41.72…did not compete during the indoor season.
2012-13: Made his Duke debut in the fall at the Virginia Tech Alumni Invitational, finishing 14th...took 10th at the Great American Cross Country Festival with a time of 26:24.9 for 8K...Indoors, competed in the mile run at the Virginia Tech Elite meet where he finished 28th in 4:33.93…served as the anchor leg for the distance medley relay team that combined to finished second at the Virginia Tech Invitational with a time of 10:10.90…did not compete during the 2013 Outdoor season.
Prior to Duke: Four-year letterwinner for Jeff Kaye at Millburn High School ... won back-to-back sectional titles in cross country his junior and senior seasons ... finished seventh at the New Jersey Cross Country Meet of Champions as a senior ... notched a personal-best of 15:04 for 5K in cross country during his prep career ... other personal-bests include 1:57 in the 800m, 4:09 in the 1,600m and 9:12 at the 3,200m distance outdoors.
Personal: Son of Ken and Rose Udland ... born March 14, 1994 ... has two older brothers, Myles and Tyler ... brother, Myles, competed in cross country and track & field at Auburn (2008-09) and at UConn (2009-10) ... brother, Tyler, is currently a member of the cross country and track & field teams at Princeton.
