Beach Earns ACC Performer of the Week Honors

DURHAM, N.C. - Redshirt junior Curtis Beach garnered ACC Performer of the Week honors for his first-place finish in the men’s decathlon at the 86th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays, as announced by the ACC Tuesday, April 2.  The Albuqueque, N.M., native eclipsed the 8,000 point mark for the second time in his career earning a point total of 8,011.  He previously surpassed the mark by earning 8,084 points at the 2011 NCAA Outdoor Championships where he finished second overall and set a new ACC record. 

Beach earned the first place finish by setting personal bests in three events including the 100 meters (10.68), shot put (41-3, 12.57) and the pole vault (16-8.75, 5.10).  He is the current national leader in the event for the 2013 season.
