2014-15: Indoors, earned first team All-ACC honors with a silver-medal performance in the heptathlon at the ACC Championships (2/27), finishing with 5,452 points…finished fifth in the heptathlon at the Tobacco Road Cup (1/23) with a point total of 4,468…led the Duke men in the long jump during the indoor campaign, registering a season-best jump of 22-8.50 (6.92) during the heptathlon competition at the ACC Championships…won the men’s pole vault competition at the VT Challenge (2/20), clearing 16-2.75 (4.95)…Outdoors, paired his silver medal from the indoor conference meet with another at the ACC Outdoor Championships (5/15), scoring a personal-best 7,260 points in the decathlon to finish second behind teammate Tanner Johnson, earning a first team All-ACC selection…point total ranks as the fifth-best score in Duke history…earned spots on both the All-ACC Academic Men’s Indoor Track & Field Team and the All-ACC Academic Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Team…named to the ACC Academic Honor Roll for the second time.
2013-14: Indoors, qualified for the ACC Indoor Championships (2/28), placing second in the heptathlon with a point total of 5,510, the second-highest point total in Duke history…also placed fifth in the men’s pole vault with the third-highest clearance in Duke history, 16-10.75 (5.15)…won the men’s pole vault at the Virginia Tech Challenge (2/21) with a clearance of 16-2.75 (4.95)…member of the fifth-place finishing 4x400 that ran the fifth-fastest time in Duke history, 3:16.97, at the Virginia Tech Invitational (1/18)…Outdoors, qualified for the ACC Outdoor Championships (4/17), placing second in the decathlon with a personal-best point total of 7,122…also placed eighth in the pole vault competition with a height of 16-0.75 (4.90) at the ACC Outdoor Championships…member of the school record 4x400 team that ran a time of 3:11.74 and placed first at the VertKlasse Meeting (4/5).
2012-13: Earned his first ACC Indoor Championship in the men’s heptathlon with a point total of 5,328…ranks third on the Duke all-time list in the event…served as Duke’s top performer of the season in the long jump and 60 meter hurdles…earned personal record marks throughout the season in six out of seven events…finished sixth at the ACC Indoor Championships in the men’s pole vault, clearing a personal best 16-9.25 (5.11)…Outdoors, finished 10th in the decathlon at the Texas Relays, breaking the 7,000 barrier for the first time with a point total of 7,030…ranks third on Duke’s all-time list in the event…earned personal record marks in nine out of ten events on the season…forced to withdrawal from the ACC Outdoor Championships after pulling his hamstring in the 100.
2011-12: Transitioned to being a multi-event athlete during his freshman year...indoors, placed fifth in his first heptathlon with 4,659 points...competed at ACC Indoor Championships but was forced to withdraw due to injury...outdoors, finished sixth at the ACC Outdoor Championships with a point total of 6,585....that point total ranks fifth on Duke's all-time list in the event...his highest finish during the 10-event competition came in the final event, the 1,500m, where he crossed the line second with a time of 4:45.83.
Prior to Duke: Three-year letterwinner at Davis...California state champion in the pole vault as a senior, vaulting a school-record mark of 16-1...also claimed the sectional championship in the same event...named Davis Athlete of the Year as a senior.
Personal: Son of Chris and Sarah Rock...born Sept. 27, 1992...has one brother, Neal, and one sister, Charlotte...mother, Sarah, rowed crew at Cal...father, Chris, swam at Michigan State (1979-80).
