DURHAM, N.C. – Duke’s Brinson Paolini was named to the PING All-America second team by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) Thursday after leading Duke to a school record five tournament victories, including the ACC Championship, in 2012-13. Paolini becomes the first second team All-America for the Blue Devils since Ryan Blaum in 2006.

Paolini recorded an outstanding senior season in which he registered the second-best single season stroke average (71.48) in school history and closed out the season 22nd in the Golfweek / Sagarin Rankings. He also led the Blue Devils in under-par rounds (16), rounds in the 60s (8), even-par or better rounds (19), top 5 finishes (4), top 10 finishes (6), top 20 finishes (11), sub-par strokes per round (3.68), percentage of fairways hit (.800), putts per round (28.84) and par 4 scoring (4.04), while placing in the top 20 in all 11 stroke-play events.

For his career, Paolini played  a total of 133 rounds over 45 tournaments and registered a 72.17 career stroke average (second all-time at Duke). The two-time All-ACC honoree and 2010 ACC Freshman of the Year is scattered throughout the record books ranking in the top five in rounds in the 60s, under-par rounds, even-par or better rounds, even-par rounds, top 5 finishes, top 10 finishes and top 20 finishes. Paolini also owns four of Duke’s top 10 seasons of percentage of fairways hit and is one of three players in Duke history to finish in the top 10 at the ACC Championship three times.

In addition to his individual success, Paolini has guided Duke to nine tournament wins over the past four years including the 2010 Callaway Collegiate Match Play, 2011 NCAA East Regional, 2013 Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate and 2013 ACC Championship.

With the PING second team All-America honors, Paolini adds to an impressive 2012-13 haul of accolades that includes the Byron Nelson Award, first team CoSIDA Academic All-America, Golfweek All-America, All-ACC and PING All-East Region accolades.

Paolini, a two-time PING All-American, is the first Blue Devil to earn Academic All-America and All-America honors in the same season.
