Candice Jackson joined the Duke women’s basketball staff in May of 2011, after spending two seasons as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Wake Forest.
Her role at Duke includes serving as one of two recruiting coordinators along with Hernando Planells and working with the guards.
During her first two years on the Blue Devil staff, Jackson helped bring in the seventh-best recruiting class in the nation in 2012, which included third-ranked Alexis Jones, and the No. 2 class nationally in 2013 that features Rebecca Greenwell, Oderah Chidom, Kendall McCravey-Cooper and Kianna Holland.
In two years at Wake Forest, Jackson helped lead the Demon Deacons to an 18-14 overall record in 2009-10, followed by a 15-17 mark a year ago.
Prior to her arrival at Wake Forest, Jackson spent four successful seasons with the University of Richmond, where she helped take the team from a 13-17 record in 2005-06 to a 24-10 finish in 2008-09.
While at Richmond, Jackson oversaw summer camps in addition to scouting, recruiting and coordinating video operations. Jackson was also in charge of community service efforts for the Spiders.
She worked closely with Spider guard Amber Petillon, who blossomed during her senior year under Jackson’s guidance and has enjoyed an extremely successful career overseas.
A four-year letterwinner at Michigan State from 2000-04, Jackson played as a guard for Duke Head Coach Joanne P. McCallie and was Coach P’s first recruit at MSU. Jackson served as team captain as both a junior and a senior and led the team to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances in 2003 and 2004. She earned her degree in Family Community Services from Michigan State.
After graduating in 2004, Jackson remained at Michigan State as a graduate assistant for the 2004-05 squad that played in the NCAA Championship game.
Jackson hails from Lansing, Mich., where she was a three-time MVP at Lansing Everett High School and guided her team to the state title game as a senior.
