DURHAM, N.C. -- Junior Mollie Pathman was selected as one of 21 players to train with the United States Under-23 Women’s National Team and will travel to the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. for training camp April 13-20, as announced by head coach Randy Waldrum this week.
Pathman, a native of Durham, N.C., joins the national team after helping the Under-20 squad claim the title at the 2012 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Japan. The Under-23 team will feature 10 players from the group that represented the United States in Japan, including fellow ACC players Kealia Ohai (North Carolina), Morgan Brian (Virginia) and Katie Stengel (Wake Forest).
A two-time All-ACC selection at Duke, Pathman has played in 63 career games, recording 15 goals and 22 assists while leading Duke to consecutive appearances in the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament, highlighted by a trip to the NCAA College Cup in 2011. In addition to the 2012 FIFA U-20 World Cup, the junior defender has represented the United States at the 2012 CONCACAF U-20 Women’s Championship in Panama and the Four Nationals Tournament in La Manga, Spain.
While at training camp, the U-23 squad will scrimmage the United States Under-20 Women’s National Team, which will feature incoming freshman Toni Payne, April 16 and April 19.
