DURHAM, N.C. – Senior Adam Sumrall of the Duke men’s golf team recently sat down with GoDuke.com to share his past accomplishments on the golf course. Sumrall posted two top five finishes on the season, including a win at the Trojan.

GoDuke.com: What kind of clubs do you play?
AS:
I play TaylorMade all the way through. I have the RocketBallz driver and three-wood, which are pretty popular right now. The putter is a TaylorMade Ghost. The wedges are TaylorMade XFT’s, which have replaceable face blades.

GoDuke.com: What kind of pre-round superstitions do you have before tournaments?
AS:
I am not too superstitious; every golfer has a routine before you start. I like to warm up pretty quickly, maybe a little quicker than the average player. I have a stretching routine, I hit a few balls and I am good to go. Nothing too strange or out of the ordinary.

GoDuke.com: Is there a shot that sticks out in your mind that you have hit under pressure?
AS:
When I was in high school, I hit a really good 8-iron on a par three on the 16th hole, the 34th hole of the tournament. I hit a great little draw in there, made the birdie and went on to par the final two holes to win the state championship.

GoDuke.com: What is your go to shot?
AS:
I like the little draw. That is normally the shot shape that I see.

GoDuke.com: What is your favorite club?
AS:
Probably my 7-iron.

GoDuke.com: Do you have a ball mark with any special significance?
AS:
I like to use old style quarters from the ‘60s, ‘70s, and ‘80s. What I have been doing with them lately is drawing a little line on them and I have a line on my golf ball as well, which helps me with my direction.
