Blue Devils Remain No. 3 in Latest Golf World Poll
DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke women’s golf program remained No. 3 in the first Golf World/WGCA Division I College Coaches’ Poll of the spring season that was released Wednesday.
Southern California remained No. 1, while UCLA, Duke, Arizona State, Washington, Alabama, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Stanford and Arizona rounded out the top 10.
Duke is coming off placing second at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge on Feb. 11 in the spring opener for the Blue Devils. Freshman
Yu Liu carded a team-best three-day total of 215 on her way to finishing tied third. Liu, who is a native of China, became just the third Blue Devil in school history to open her career with four straight top 10 finishes – Amanda Blumenherst and Beth Bauer.
Over the last three tournaments, Duke has turned in either a first or second place ledger, with the victory coming at the Tar Heel Invitational in October.
The Blue Devils will next compete in the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate from March 7-9 in Hilton Head, S.C.
