DURHAM, N.C. – Sophomore Mike Seaberg won the 100 long course meter breaststroke event Thursday, July 31 at the 2014 Maryland LSC Long Course Championships in St. Mary’s City, Md.
Seaberg, who hails from Gambrills, Md., took first in the event and turned in a qualifying mark for the upcoming Phillips 66 National Championships in Irvine, Calif.
Seaberg was a member of the Blue Devils’ ACC team last season as a freshman, competing in the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke and the 200 IM at the conference meet.
Incoming freshman Leah Goldman was also in action Thursday on the second day of the 2014 Speedo Junior National Championships in Irvine. The Burlingame, Calif., native advanced to the bonus final in the women’s 100m freestyle, where she clocked a best time of 56.90 to finish second in the heat.
The Junior National Championships continue through Sunday, Aug. 3 in Irvine while the Phillips 66 National Championships are set for Aug. 6-10 at the same facility. The Duke men’s and women’s programs will be represented by a number of swimmers at that meet.
